2 x Postmodern brass hammered diabolo shaped candles / height 26 cm / 1970s
These are vintage diabolo-shaped brass pricket candlesticks, featuring a classic mid-century modern or Art Deco silhouette. The design is characterized by its hourglass or "diabolo" flared cup, a rounded dome base, and an internal spike (pricket) to securely hold thick altar or pillar candles.
The underside reveals an authentic vintage construction with a heavy ballast plates and structural feet, which keep the weighted bases slightly elevated. Similar styles from the mid-20th century were often produced as church altar decorations or high-end European home accents.
